Join James as he runs across Canada in under 100 days, to fund scholarships for youth who’ve also been displaced in childhood. The 7500km journey is from St. John's, NL to Victoria, BC.

I was born and raised in Oakville, Ontario. When I was 7 years old, I suffered a tragic loss. Both of my parents died and I spent time in multiple homes until I was permanently placed in the care of my grandparents. I was lucky—really lucky—to be cared for and supported by family, friends, and the surrounding community who stepped in when they didn’t have to. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully express how grateful I am for the people who showed up for me, believed in me, and kept me going. 

Having a support network during that time was a powerful thing, and I want other kids to be able to experience it, especially if they, too, have suffered a childhood loss. When you’re a child, the world can feel incredibly unstable as your still dependant on others. So, I want more kids to know that no matter how heavy life feels right now, something better is still possible—and your dreams are still worth chasing. I want to build a community around this understanding. As I visit local support groups/homes along the jouney I hope to be someone relatable, someone that kids in places like I once was can look to knowing that its still possible to follow your dreams.

All donations will go directly into a scholarship fund to support youth in need across Canada towards their educational goals. A scholarship is something that kids will be able to look forward to, no matter there current circumstance. From my own experience, it means more than just hope, but an opportunity to grow, and a path towards a brighter future.
